Mogadishu, Somalia – November 30, 2024 – Speaker of the House of the People of the Somali Parliament, Sheikh Adan Madoobe, today met with traditional elders and intellectuals from the Hadamo community, led by Malaq Mohamud Mohamed Abdi, to receive a detailed briefing on the successful resolution of the recent conflict in Hudur district.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Speaker Madoobe expressed his gratitude to the elders for their crucial role in brokering peace in Hudur, a town that had been embroiled in tensions over disputes concerning its governance. The Speaker commended the elders for their efforts to bring the warring factions to the negotiation table and restore order to the area.
“The mediation and dialogue initiated by our esteemed elders have led to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Hudur. This was made possible through the tireless efforts of the traditional leaders, and the support of the Southwest State Government, which facilitated the process,” Speaker Madoobe wrote.
The Speaker’s meeting with the elders, who provided a comprehensive update on the mediation efforts, underscored the critical role traditional leaders continue to play in resolving local conflicts in Somalia.
