Mogadishu, Somalia – A groundbreaking development project, the Gateway Complex, was officially launched today in Mogadishu. Funded by Premier Bank in partnership with foreign investors, the project marks a significant milestone in Somalia’s reconstruction and economic development efforts.
The Gateway Complex, the first of its kind in over three decades, is set to transform Mogadishu’s skyline. It will feature:
• A Five-Star Hotel with over 300 rooms
• Luxury Apartments
• A state-of-the-art International Conference Center
• A Modern Hospital
• An Educational School
• A Large Shopping Mall
• High-Quality Entertainment Centers
The project is expected to create over 600 jobs in the capital, particularly at the five-star hotel, significantly boosting employment opportunities for Mogadishu’s residents.
The General Manager of Premier Bank, Mr. Jibril, revealed that convincing Rotana Hotels to invest in Mogadishu was challenging, as many international hotel brands initially declined the opportunity. He praised Rotana’s decision as a bold step forward for the city. Jibril also addressed concerns surrounding the land for the project, clarifying that it belongs to the Central Bank of Somalia and has been leased to the developers, dismissing claims of land grabbing.
The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, applauded the multi-million-dollar investment by Premier Bank, emphasizing his government’s commitment to supporting both local and foreign investors. He noted the importance of initiatives like the Gateway Complex in re-shaping and rebranding Somalia, underscoring their role in driving economic growth and infrastructure development.
The launch of the Gateway Complex signals a new era for Somalia, showcasing its potential as a destination for business, development, and international investment.
