Baidoa, Southwest State – The Minister of Security for Southwest State Government, alongside the Police Commander for Bay Region, Mr. Hassan Abdulkadir Mohamed, and Amin Mohamed, bid an emotional farewell today to Christina Reinig, the outgoing UN Police Officer in charge of the United Nations Office at its headquarters in Baidoa.
Christina, who has played a vital role in supporting police affairs and strengthening security efforts in Southwest State, was celebrated for her dedication and service. During the ceremony, she was presented with a certificate of honor and good conduct by the Minister of Security, who expressed gratitude for her contributions to the Southwest State Police Unit while serving under the United Nations.
The farewell event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including the Police Commander for Bay Region, the Chairperson of the Baidoa District Women’s Association, and other officials from the United Nations and the Southwest State Government.
As part of the celebration, Christina was honored with gifts and adorned in traditional Maay attire, symbolizing the respect and appreciation of the local community. This gesture highlighted the strong cultural ties and traditions of the Maay population in Southwest State.
The event underscored the successful collaboration between the United Nations and the Southwest State Government. The United Nations Transition Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) office in Baidoa has been instrumental in supporting government initiatives, particularly in training and capacitating police officers to enhance security in the region.
