Baidoa, Somalia – November 8, 2025 (Somdaily News):- The Southwest State Government of Somalia has strongly condemned the horrific incident in which a civilian was reportedly burned to death in Dadumaay, a village near Wanlaweyn district in the Lower Shabelle region, describing it as an inhumane and barbaric act that goes against all principles of humanity, peace, and coexistence.
In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Social Awareness, the Southwest Administration expressed its deep outrage over the act, emphasizing that such heinous violence has no place in Somali society.
“This was an act of terrorism and cruelty that stands in direct opposition to human values, peace, and community harmony,” the statement read.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to justice, pledging a full and impartial investigation into the incident to ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law. It stressed that the administration will not tolerate acts that threaten the safety, stability, and unity of its citizens.
The statement further highlighted that groups or individuals involved in acts of revenge or mob justice are enemies of peace and social progress, urging the public to cooperate with authorities and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
“The Southwest State Government will not accept or legitimize any form of vigilante retaliation. Those who carried out this crime will face justice,” it added.
The administration also extended its condolences to the family of the victim, praying for patience and strength during this difficult time, while calling on the public to remain calm and trust the justice system.
The government concluded by urging all community leaders, security agencies, and citizens to work collectively to prevent retaliatory violence and support peacebuilding efforts in the region.
The killing, which has drawn widespread condemnation across Somalia, has been described by many as a barbaric and shameful act that risks inflaming inter-clan tensions if not swiftly addressed through lawful means.
