Somali Finance Minister and World Bank Representative Visit National Transformation Plan Preparation Center

Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Mr. Bihi Iman Cige, alongside the Head of the World Bank in Somalia, Kristina Svensson, today visited the center dedicated to the preparation of the country’s National Transformation Plan (NTP) for the 2025-2029 period. Their visit comes as the government works to finalize a comprehensive strategy aimed at steering Somalia’s development over the next five years.

During the visit, the Minister and the World Bank Representative held a meeting with key officials from the National Plan Preparation Program. The meeting focused on reviewing the progress made thus far in the preparation process, as well as highlighting the various activities undertaken by government officials and international experts.

Minister Cige commended the efforts of both the Somali government officials and international partners involved in the process. He specifically praised the dedicated work being carried out on a daily basis, emphasizing that the collaborative efforts were crucial for ensuring the success of the National Transformation Plan.

“The preparation of the 2025-2029 National Transformation Plan is a pivotal step for Somalia’s future,” said Minister Cige. “The hard work of our officials and the expertise of our international partners are vital to ensuring that this plan meets the needs of all Somalis and lays a solid foundation for sustainable development.”

The National Transformation Plan is expected to guide Somalia’s economic, social, and infrastructure development over the next five years, focusing on key sectors such as education, healthcare, security, and governance. The visit by the Minister and Kristina Svensson underscores the ongoing collaboration between Somalia and the World Bank in shaping the country’s long-term development goals.

Officials at the preparation center expressed confidence that the final version of the National Transformation Plan will be a comprehensive and inclusive roadmap for Somalia’s growth and prosperity in the years to come.
