Garowe, Somalia – November 6, 2025: – The Puntland Government has strongly rejected recent statements issued by the Federal Government of Somalia and its allies, which alleged that Bosaso Airport was being used as a transit point for operations related to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Puntland described the remarks as “false, provocative, and a deliberate attempt to undermine the region’s security achievements.”
In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Democratization, Puntland accused the Federal Government of engaging in baseless propaganda instead of fulfilling its national responsibilities. The regional government emphasized that it has no involvement whatsoever in the Sudan conflict, labeling the accusations as “fabricated lies aimed at creating confusion and discrediting Puntland’s stability.”

“These false claims are designed to tarnish the remarkable progress and sacrifices made by Puntland in combating international terrorism, particularly the fight against ISIS and Al-Shabaab in the Cal-Miskaad mountains of Bari region,” the statement read.
Puntland reiterated its unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, affirming its solidarity with the Sudanese people and expressing hope for a swift end to hostilities in Sudan. It further condemned the Federal Government for what it termed “a covert and irresponsible campaign of misinformation” targeting Puntland.
The statement reaffirmed that Puntland’s security forces operate fully within the framework of its Constitution and legal jurisdiction, and that no foreign or unauthorized military forces are present in its territory. Puntland also made it clear that it does not recognize any “security arrangement” claimed by the Federal Government in the region.
Finally, Puntland extended gratitude to its international partners and allies — including the United States, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Ethiopia, and Kenya — for their continued support in counter-terrorism efforts and for standing firmly with Puntland in its mission to protect regional stability and defeat extremist threats.
