Mogadishu, Monday, October 27, 2025 – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has today appointed the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia.
Prime Minister Hamza appointed Hon. Prof. Saalim Aliyow Ibrow to this position, taking into account the wide scope of work and the heavy responsibilities that lie ahead for the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
Prof. Saalim Aliyow Ibrow is a Member of the House of the People and has previously held various ministerial positions since the early Somali governments. He is among the individuals with extensive experience in governance and public administration.
His appointment has been widely welcomed by many sections of the public and political leaders, who noted that he possesses great knowledge and experience in leadership and administration, although some believe his expertise would have been more suitable for the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry, and Range.
