President Laftagareen and Former Speaker Mohamed Mursal Reach Political Reconciliation in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya – The President of South West State of Somalia, H.E. Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen), held a fruitful meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, with the former Speaker of the Somali Federal Parliament, Hon. Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman.

The meeting, which came amid heightened political tensions in South West State, focused on resolving previous political differences between the two leaders. Both parties agreed to work together towards strengthening unity, cooperation, and the overall development of South West State.

This reconciliation between President Laftagareen and former Speaker Mursal comes at a time when opposition figures in South West State have been pressuring Somali Federal President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to allow them to open a political office in Baidoa.

Political analysts view this new understanding as a potential setback for the South West opposition alliance, which had been planning to jointly challenge what they allege to be President Laftagareen’s attempts to extend his term in office.

The Nairobi meeting is seen as a significant step towards rebuilding trust and fostering collaboration among South West political leaders, potentially reshaping the region’s political landscape in the coming months.
