Mogadishu, December 17, 2024 – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today welcomed Mr. Xue Bing, the Special Envoy of the Chinese Government for the Horn of Africa, during his official visit to Somalia.
The meeting, held in Mogadishu, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Somalia and China in key areas, including security, economy, politics, diplomacy, trade, and education. Both leaders emphasized the importance of fostering strong ties to promote the shared interests of the two nations.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud highlighted Somalia’s recent progress, particularly in achieving stability and economic growth, and underscored the country’s readiness to embrace regional and international opportunities and challenges. He invited China to explore investment opportunities in Somalia, pointing to the nation’s potential in sectors such as trade and development.
Ambassador Xue Bing expressed gratitude to Somalia’s leadership and citizens for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation. He commended the Federal Government’s achievements in security, counter-terrorism, and fostering peace and development in the Horn of Africa. The envoy reiterated China’s support for regional stability, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among nations in the region.
The meeting reflects the growing cooperation between Somalia and China, as both countries continue to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties in pursuit of sustainable development and regional stability.
